Girly Stuff

Growing up, there were some things I never thought I would do. Some of these came with being a mother. It was easy to see my future full of dirt, rough-housing and sporty boys. I wanted 4 sons. They are durable. simple. and still fun. Girls are complicated and scary. I came from a household with a mother and 4 sisters.. SCARY! Anyway. I didn't think I would ever have a daughter so I never thought I would:

--enjoy the color pink.. or glitter.
  I totally do!
--get interested in fashion and hair how-to's..
I'm going to enroll myself in cosmetology school soon. Kidding, but I may, I should!
--plan a dress-up area for our new play room.
I am. AND it involves DIY skills.. which I have about Zero of. Another blogpost, I predict!
--paint nails, and have fun doing it!
I finally painted Bailey's nails for the first time and it was so fun!!
That is why I'm blogging today. This little gem of mine has lit up our lives like nothing else. So here are some poor quality pictures to document a time that I never saw coming. Really to document how  gracious God is and how I picture Him laughing at me, in His sweet fatherly way.

First, Lets take a moment to acknowledge the craziness of my nail polish colors. What is the deal?  I dont know what's normal, but this was what I had. See? I told you this girly stuff does not come naturally to me.

So, we started with sparkly red. It was so cute. Until she messed it up and then it looked like all her cuticles were bleeding.

Let's try again.. Purple this time.

She has no clue what to do with this.. welcome to the club, darling.

*I* think she did so good for being 2 with her personality. she laid her hands out while I was painting and let them dry in the air, as long as she possibly could.

But then... well..  I'm not sure what she was thinking.. She put soap all over her brothers toothbrush, and was possibly trying to remove the color?? No. Brother doesn't need to know about this. All of this happening while she wears her other brothers shoes. This girl...

After bath time.  Her nails aren't perfect, but they're just right for us. At least all the nail polish stayed in the bottles.

I look forward to every future girl time we get.

There you have it.
God knowing better than I granted us a precious little female. Although, as you may know, He knew the wild personality to give so she'd fit in with this crazy family.

From the phone with my favorites.

**This Post was actually from October 27. Blogger wouldn't let me publish it. "Error 403" it said. I finally figured out how to post pictures. ***

My darling friends helping me to start a blog. They're acting like they care about me so much, that they want to keep up with my life once we leave San Angelo. :-( Which, regardless of the false feelings, I think is very sweet. :-) <3

So here is my very first blog post. I hope that I keep up with it, so I can look back and enjoy awesome family albums, Like Mary. Not Mary's.. My own.

AND I get to stalk my favorite friends while it seems totally normal.

Thanks to my awesome husband for the incredible blog title.

Do you like my headband?
What would I do without thoughtful friends to teach me modern technology?? :-)

 Aren't they awesome!?

Spring Break Day 1

 Mar 31 2015

Today starts spring/Easter break! Chase's break actually started yesterday, but Braden's school had a make-up day from all the snow days they had. Honestly, it was worth those random days off! The kids go back to school next Tuesday the 7th.

So, since moving and learning the kids personalities more, I've become nervous for long breaks in our routine. I always thought we could be a "whatever" family and fly by the seat of our pants. But we've learned, at least for this stage in life, our eldest needs a routine. Enter: Effortful Mother. I was trying to think of things we could do that would be fun, and not too trying, that the 3 kids of different ages could enjoy.. That wouldn't leave me cleaning all day from each activity or mentally insane.  I'm calling today a success!  I feel like we all had fun and actually worked out brains!

Today we made cookies. Yummy chocolate chip-oatmeal-walnut cookies!

Watched The Little Mermaid 2.
The boys were actually quite concerned for little Melody throughout the movie.
We Made an awesome zebra-hauling balloon rocket. Alex even wanted to play once he got home.

We did some "schoolwork".
Colored.

Read books.
Played with those bendy wire things.. What are they called??
The kids built Legos.
And even played video games.

Here's to hoping for a great tomorrow!

Snow days are awesome!!

Yesterday, we had quite a bit of snow on the ground from it snowing through the night. I think people were expecting a bigger snowstorm, but we got 4 or 5 inches. It was really the perfect amount to have fun in. It was so powdery and fresh all day long. And still is!!
So here are some pictures of our fun afternoon!

Chase and his snow angel! How cute!!

Sledding! Perfectly sized hill! This was seriously such great fun! I took more videos, so only this one picture. Haha. Sad.

Bailey and her snowman that daddy helped -or made- with.

Kind of creepy, but it's so cute.  He had hair at one point.

The kids did awesome! I couldn't believe they weren't crying bc of the cold. They were all bundled up, but usually that doesn't matter. It was a great time!

Bailey only fussed when I told her she couldn't go on the swing. I figured the wind would not be gentle to her face. She even had a face full of snow at one point, and still had fun! She's a tough girl!

I love the snow!!!
